Dan
Pipkin has been married to Georgia for 48 years; they have 4 children
and 9 grandchildren. He graduated from the University of Arkansas,
Fayetteville in 1965. He moved to Arkadelphia and worked with Reynolds
Metals Company for 37 years and with BICC Cables and General Cable
for 4 years. After he retired, he started a business grinding stumps.
He has been drawing with pencil, pen and ink all of his life. He
drew cartoons for the Daily Siftings Herald and the Southern Standard
through the 1980's and still loves to doodle in cartoons. He started
making hiking sticks and wooden mallets about a year ago and then
started wood carving on the hiking sticks. Most of the material
that he carves has been hickory or oak, but he's branching out to
try other woods.
