Johnny
has been interested in art for many years and has worked with many
media including drawing, tole painting, wood burning, pastel, colored
pencil, and watercolor. Most recently he has painted in acrylic
and oil.
Johnny enjoys drawing people. He works from photographs, especially
old photographs. In the black and white photos of children at play
he focuses on the movement and activity, not worried with color.
When he finds a subject that is interesting to him, he will draw
it in graphite or charcoal. If he likes what he has done then he
will do it again in colored pencil, pastel or watercolor. He enjoys
the satisfaction when he finishes a nice piece of art.
Art has been a way to get him through hard times in his life
Vietnam,
divorce, the death of his daughter. Life is good now and he enjoys
art more than ever.
He has taken college classes in drawing and watercolor, private
lessons from Linda Godsey and Farrell Ford, and has gotten a lot
out of reading art books and magazines, and through trial and error.
He has a painting in Judge George Van Hooks office in El Dorado
and a painting in Senator Mike Ross's El Dorado office. He hopes
to have art on his mother's refrigerator one day.
