A
native of Arkadelphia, Rita spent over 25 years living in various
metropolitan cities such as Detroit, Atlanta, and St. Louis. Although
her husband's job kept them moving every 3 or 4 years she continued
to practice her art...skills that she learned while attending Henderson
State University, then earning a Bachelor of Science in Education
with a major in Art from the U of A at Fayetteville. Rita and her
family moved back to Arkadelphia in 2003 and have been enjoying
living in the same small town as her parents and her two sisters'
families.
Rita has won many awards from around the world including first
place in the portrait division of the 27th International Miniature
Art Show in Florida. She exhibited in each of the World Exhibitions
of Miniature Art held in London, England, Tasmania, Australia and
in Washington, D.C.
Rita also paints large commissioned portraits. Her portrait
of W. H. "Dub" Arnold, former Chief Justice of the Arkansas
Supreme Court, can be viewed at The State of Arkansas Justice Building
on the Capitol grounds in Little Rock. Also on public display is
the portrait of Frances McLean, co-founder of Group Living, Inc.,
which is hanging in the McLean Center on Main Street in Arkadelphia.
Her portrait of Bob and Sunny Evans is on display at Garvan Gardens
in Hot Springs. You may view more of her work at www.RitaEarlesArt.com.
Rita's studio is in the lower section of her unique home, which
she and her husband Richard designed. In her studio you will see
paintings from tiny to huge and a variety of subjects in still lifes,
landscapes and portraits! Stop in and see her original art, view
works in progress, and have a cup of coffee!
